DM07
LMAO - clearly an attempt to shift attention from their terrorist plot to assasinate the PM and others. They are doing the exact thing they accuse the government of doing. What a pair of hypocrites. Why would they not wait until tomorrow after the report is published to see what the official position is first ?. It makes no sense. "clearly an attempt to shift attention from their terrorist plot to assasinate the PM and others" ...and I think it is a given, that you will now present evidence for this, right?! Evidence...you know...like in "innocent until proven guilty"? Emphasis on the word "proven"!
tukkytuktuk
Sounds like a fit up to me. Something fishy is going on. Why would red shirt leaders go to that park? For what reason? Fit up the red shirts and save face for the army. Scandals are getting more frequent, something is a miss.

NongKhaiKid
Two vile people and their choice for a day trip rather interesting but the government needs to explain the reason for the arrests Vile people absolutely and probably trying to be ' smart ' trying to visit the park but the govt just makes a fool of itself and lowers themselves to their level by heavy handed tactics. This is the sort of adverse publicity that plays into the hands of the opposition but I'm sure the implications of such things are beyond the collective intelligence of the powers that be. than
Please lock them away. Yes, absolutely, but for proper convictions for proper criminal charges, in a proper court of law. Not for vague charges of convenience under S44 or LM stuff at a military court. Make it clear and definite for things that will still be understood and still stand scrutiny in 5 or 10 years time. Otherwise the martyr syndrome which is inevitable, will just be all that stronger. The pair are under bail for terrorism charge since 2010 ! ...and that has exactly what to do, with them, visiting a park? The two were release under conditon like no political activitie or incite unrest.... On a other english thai newspaper citing fb page of one suspects, the two claim they go to park for make investigation, no like simple tourist, it's look like political activity...... skildpadden
If this country is considering being democratic at any point, everybody needs to be equal in the eyes of the law. I do not agree with the UDD leaders, but I do recognize that they should have the right of going to visit the park. I recognize they should have the freedom of expression.Yes of course they make their trip known in public to create some stir, but if there is nothing to hide, the army could easily have told them "you are welcome here, we have nothing to hide". They could even throw in a tour guide and a photo-op to show that the UDD and army are now working together. What a complete failure at PR from the junta's side.A group of 200 are allowed to shout obscene words at the US Embassy, but two people are not allowed to visit a public place? 15Peter20
Going to a park is a very serious offence, on a par with fb comments, 30 years (death sentence) at least, what do these people think this country is, the land of the free? thelonius
Redshirt Leaders Detained En Route to Rajabhakti Park Pravit Rojanaphruk Senior Staff Writer The Rajabhakti Historical Park at about 11am this morning. SAMUT SAKHON — Soldiers whisked away Redshirt leaders this morning while they were en route to conduct their own inspection of alleged corruption at the Rajabhakti Historical Park in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Nattawut Saikua and Jatuphon Prompan, two leaders of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship, or UDD, were reportedly detained by the military at about 10am this morning around the Mahachai area of Samut Sakhon province, southwest of Bangkok. It's unclear where the two have been taken to as of press time, or what law they may have been accused of violating. Full story: http://www.khaosodenglish.com/detail.php?newsid=1448857835 -- Khaosod English 2015-11-30 "or what law they may have been accused of violating". not that a little detail like that will deter the usual suspects on this forum - I see a few have leapt in already. Arrested for being in charge of a mindset differing to the junta, perhaps? If anybody wishes to reply disagreeing with me please consider the recent demonstration by the the monk Issara in your excuses justification. I disagree with you for a start. I don't make any excuse. A demonstration by 200 people compared with a man calling for the destruction of a city. What is your excuse for that? Perhaps they were arrested for breaking the terms and conditions of their bail. You DO know that they out on bail, don't you. One of the terms that they agreed to was not to be involved in ANY public demonstrations. How can you justify a man who freely admitted to asking the Redshirts to bring a million bottles to Bangkok where he would supply the gasoline to burn Bangkok to the ground and that HE, personally would take the responsibility. He never did take the responsibility though. The videos are still out in Youtube land. "Unrelated videos removed" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/thailand/7740752/Thailand-protests-Bangkok-burns-as-army-smashes-Red-Shirt-camp.html http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/world/2010-05-19-thailand-wednesday_N.htm http://www.bbc.com/news/10127048 Are you very sure about those bail conditions with particular reference to your stated “ANY public demonstrations” ? Perhaps you could share your source of these revelations with the Forum. In the meantime I suppose we’ll just have to accept the reported bail conditions “Bangkok Criminal Court said the seven could be released immediately on condition that they did not leave the country or incite violence, lawyer Narinpong Jinapak told Reuters.” http://www.zoominfo.com/p/Narinpong-Jinapak/1590059971 I’m not justifying a mans utterances on a video dating back 5 years, I’m asking the question why were the two arrested in a Public Park? Your post does not address the situation, rather you use it to put forward your views on an unrelated subject. If you do come up with something relevant do let me know. Here is something Tacitus the Roman historian and writer had to say about it: Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges. The more numerous the laws, the more corrupt the government. TKDfella
Well, I'm finding it difficult to believe anyone these days. The yellows can go and demonstrate against a certain country and the reds get arrested for not having yet reached their destination (for whatever reason). The whole thing could/is turning into a nightmare. It is said that trouble is not wanted yet both sides seem to be doing just the opposite. Any posters here got favorite red or yellows shirts?. My Thai intended, whose nickname is 'red' hasn't worn her favorite red dress for ages. It's a great shame when peoples choices are becoming less and less. It seems clear to me that that certain political parties will never be allowed and that can only mean an unstable picture in the future. Having said that, would there be any real change if they were allowed?
Champneys
Irrespective of who they are lets hope there is a legitimate reason for their arrest, if there is not we are moving down a dangerous road. Far down the road already
