LivinLOS
Crime is up 67% this year. Source ? http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/30/world/asia/thailand-economy-tourism.html Military rule has somewhat paradoxically coincided with a surge in thefts, burglaries and robberies. The national police recorded more than 75,557 thefts and other property crimes in the fiscal year that ended in September, 63 percent higher than the previous year. Violent crime was up 17 percent during the same period.

ggt
It's a mad house! It's a mad house! The long spoken of civil breakdown of law and order have begun to take shape...not just in Thailand...but in many so called "civilized" countries in the world...IMHO
digibum
When I first read this story the other day, I was pretty sure the woman had been sexually assaulted. Why else would they have taken her ??? Interesting the news media did not report on that, maybe they wanted to release bad news in stages....... So with a bad taxi story like this one, guess next week there will be another good taxi story about some driver that returned a million baht left in the taxi....... I am always amazed to read of rape stories in Thailand. With cheap sex available everywhere, why would a guy risk years in jail to rape a woman ?? Strange...... because rape is not about sex Bingo. Rape has nothing to do with sex. It's all about control and power. While it's difficult to get inside the head of anybody who would do something like this, I do think it's interesting that the victims were Burmese. Traveling Sailor
If the assult of the lady is true, another article written yesterday, said she was released unharmed, the proper punishment would be to turn them over to a group of ladies who have had similar encounters. Do this one at a time and allow video to be made to be used as seen fit by the ladies. The absolute filth of some people, the poor girl now has to contend with what happened to her , plus what she and her unborn child have been exposed to, and the memories that she and her family will live with. I think it is time to introduce the stocks to Thailand. Let these three scumbags stand with their neck and wrists locked in for 48 hours and a sign, written in English and Thai, stating what they have done. Since saving face is so important to Thai people, this might be worse than prison for them. Of course for rape, the death penalty should be carried out after their stint in the stocks. arrowsdawdle
pack of animals - should be put down Worse, animals attack out of survival with no evil intent. Putting these cabbies down is too easy. Put them and other criminals on fishing boats so that slave labor will be replaced with incarcerated criminals. Problem solved. What's interesting is they didn't do it to Thai people, or even people who could speak Thai... And would have difficulty reporting the crime Like a lost confused or drunk foreign girl etc If these guys get away with this, I would vote the public to take matters into their own hands and lynch them..... Brer Fox
I wonder what the big boss is pointing at; whatever it is it seems to be the centre of attention. Could they have suddenly found an envelope with money in it? Could the boss be saying "give it to me"? We will never know.

The Koh Tao prosecutor is a mouthpiece paid to do the states bidding in a rigged system. He could say that angels from heaven came down to witness this magnificent rape and murder, and the equally incompetent and corrupt judge would allow the argument to stand. Nomyai
These people have lost their mind. These scums , with a single action ensured that more tourist will not visit this country. These animals are bad for society and for business. Harsh and swift punishment should be given. You have lost your mind. These crimes while horrible will not deter tourist from coming to LOS. Aviation deficiencies, ISIS, Climate change(bkk being hot and visiting will only make it hotter- fools believe such khrap), now these will affect tourism. I am always amazed to read of rape stories in Thailand. With cheap sex available everywhere, why would a guy risk years in jail to rape a woman ?? Strange...... not strange in the least. what is strange is how a so called western educated poster (assuming beyond 6th grade) believes rape is about enjoying sex and the same could be accomplished in a P4P setting. take a moment and study rape online and get some perspective. Good to see a couple of people pointing this out before too long. This is why the case against the Burmese guys on Koh Tao ("they raped and killed because they were so horny") would be laughable if it weren't so tragic.
