elevators at bts stations

in the begining of the year, the powers that be "PROMISED" that every bts station would have elevators in both directions at every stop, so disabled people could use the bts. try getting to the train in a wheel chair!

this also shows that the powers that be do not care about older or disabled. they forget the average is getting older.

maybe more people would use the bts if they could get to it. funny, the trains have wheel chair belts, but you can not get to the train to use them.

NEW NEWS, more bu--shit and no one with the ba--s to make it happen.

wow, how the bull flows in Thailand. there are stations where construction has not started and there are places like on-nut where they started and then did nothing for months.

well Mr. Ministers who has the nerve to stand up and loose face because your orders mean nothing and no one listens or cares.

just more dog and pony show!

BTS is a farce. And its been since day 1.

Well having travelled on the Airport Link twice in one week (different company to the one that operates the BTS) I think the BTS is wonderful.

Last night we were told we could board the train in Suvarnabhumi and while my wife was boarding the doors closed on her. She was visibly shaken. No apology from the person who said we could board, only a PA announcement saying that the train had to be inspected for security reasons before we could board. That train then disappeared and was replaced by another 5 minutes later.

My wife said the Airport Link service was disgusting. We would normally take a taxi yet being rush hour and lots of people out looking at the light display for the King's BD we opted for BTS to Phaya Thai then Airport Link. BTS is a walk in the park. Airport Link is a disaster.

A lot of stations seem to only have lifts from the train platform to the ticket concourse but not down to the street. Those that do have to the street require you to exit at the ticket concourse, pass the fare gates and take another lift to the street.

Those that want to bash the Thais for this poor planning might want to recall that the BTS was designed and built by Siemans.

As said before there is little use in having wheelchair access to the BTS stations. It is hard enough walking to the BTS let alone trying to do it in a chair. Being disabled in Bangkok isn't a walk in the park.

Although this thread is not about wheelchair access to BTS stations, it's about the availability of lifts, no-one in their right mind can justify saying that there is no point in providing a facility to the infirm or disabled. Imagine the stick BTS would get if they came up with your argument.

It is not the responsibility of the BTS to do the BMA's job of ensuring that the pavements can be used by all of the citizens and BTS authorities should be applauded for helping those that need assistance.

"Being disabled in Bangkok isn't a walk in the park."

Mocking the disabled isn't funny either.

I wasn't mocking the disabled.

As for whos job it is to do what, any big city needs all of its parts to be working together to make it work.

One of Bangkoks problems is there are far to many departments all working towards their own ends and caring very little about the people who live and work in the city.
