Body of Russian bomber pilot Oleg Peshkov arrives in Moscow

MOSCOW: -- The body of the pilot of a Russian Su-24 bomber shot down by a Turkish fighter jet last week has arrived in Moscow. Oleg Peshkov was shot dead while parachuting to the ground.

Amid a growing rift between Moscow and Ankara, Russia’s prime minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered more retaliatory measures against Turkey.

“These are our necessary responses that we resort to only to protect the interests of our people, as a reaction to the aggressive behaviour of the Turkish Republic,” said Medvedev. “Special measures indeed affect a large part of the economic relations.”

Meanwhile after meeting with the NATO chief, Turkey’s prime minister dismissed suggestions that Ankara should apologise for downing the Russian bomber which allegedly violated its airspace.

“The protection of our airspace (and) land borders is not only a right, but a duty for my government, said Davutoglu.

“No Turkish prime minister or president or authority will apologise because of doing our duty,” Davutoglu added.

The Turkish prime minister said he hoped Moscow would reconsider the sanctions.

Russia is Turkey’s largest supplier of natural gas and those energy exports have so far not been affected.

From what I've been reading in various places it's becoming increasingly clear that Turkey are trading with ISIS.

They're also fighting the localised enemies of ISIS as it suits their own agenda.

Bombing these supply lines is a must. ISIS are the recipient of the weapons and there's of talk of oil making its way back to Turkey.

good time ahead, lot of wars... my stocks will go up.

"He leaves behind his wife and two children.

The plane was greeted by Russian minister of defence Sergey Shoigu and head of Russian aerospace forces Victor Bondarev."

And the name of the heroic F-16 pilot that defended the Turkish Republic's sovereignty was ... ?

Won't do any good once the Atlantic and Pacific cables are cut, news blackouts occur for years on end and nuclear winter sets in. coffee1.gif

Assad regime has been buying oil from Daesh, in some cases assisted by Russian middlemen to avoid sanctions on Syria, as have the Iranians, Kurds and so on. All corrupt with self serving agendas

I wonder how Turkey would have reacted if it was one of their military aircraft that was shot down ? I imagine it would have been national mass hysteria, joining up with ISIS.

I suspect that will soon be learned.

Sultan Erdogan said yesterday in Ankara that he will resign if Turkey has traded with ISIS.

I think he should give a call to his son Bilal and he too might should resign as the Energy Minister.

If the SU-24 did not fly over Turkish airspace, then how did the body end up in Turkey?

The plane clearly crashed in Syrian territory with the pilot escaping from the plane but shot and killed by Turkmen fighters in Northern Syria before reaching the ground. Taking the body over the porous border to Turkey would have been a simple task.

The Turkmen fighters are supported by Turkey and are hardly likely to hand over the body to either the Russians or Assad connected forces in Syria.

Haven't seen anything about Assad or the Syrian government.

Will Assad be at the funeral, or anyone from the Syrian government. The ambassador from Damascus might be it, but not hearing much about this at all.

As the article below indicates, this stuff goes back a bit in time.....

Russia told Assad to shoot down Turkish plane, murder captured pilots, ‘leaked Syrian documents’ show

Devastating intelligence papers purport to prove jet was downed on Moscow’s orders, pilots captured alive by intelligence unit and then killed; Damascus had claimed June incident was an accident

The following comments are included in the noted article and may be of interest to the discerning reader:

A file “sent from [President Bashar] Assad’s palace,” said the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya, conveys and thus apparently approves a Russian suggestion to “eliminate” the pilots in the “natural way.”

The documents — of which there are hundreds, according to the report — were said to have been verified by Al-Arabiya.

So, obviously from an impeccable source.

What's happened to the second pilot?
