Liftoff: 1st US shipment in months flying to space station

Buriram's Play La Ploen draws tourists with winter flowers

BURIRAM, 7 December 2015 (NNT) - Tourists from several provinces took their families to visit flower meadows in bloom during the winter season, with Buriram province seeing between 3,000-4,000 visitors a day over the long weekend.


On Sunday, the Play La Ploen boutique resort in Buriram saw a large influx of tourists who came to experience the cool weather and see winter flowers and flowers from across the world.

Play La Ploen features several colors of lilies and a total of 250,000 black and blue tulips known as the "Queen of Night" and "Blue Aimable," respectively. The tulips display, the first of its kind in Thailand, were part of a collaboration with the the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Visitors can also enjoy a variety of other plants at the resort's greenhouses, such as ferns and bromeliads.

Govt organizes Father's Day/New Year event at Khlong Padung Krung Kasem

BANGKOK, 7 December 2015 (NNT) - The government organized a Father's Day and New Year sales event at Khlong Padung Krung Kasem.


The Khlong Padung Krung Kasem market near the Government House initiated its "Gifts for Father's Day and New Year" event over the long weekend.

The shopping event is divided into Father's Day gifts from December 1 - 12 and New Year gifts from December 13 - 24. Several quality products were on display from small and medium entrepreneurs and the government's OTOP programs across the country.

The event also held a royal exhibition of His Majesty the King, inviting the general public to sign well-wishes for the nation's Father.

Second rehearsal for late Supreme Patriarch’s funeral procession

BANGKOK: -- Palace and government authorities this morning held the second rehearsal for the funeral procession of the late Supreme Patriarch Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara from Wat Bowonniwet Vihara to Wat Thepsirin along the 3.6 kilometre long route.

Traffic was closed from 7 am when the procession marched the two chariots out from Wat Bowonniwet Vihara along Phra Sumane, Phan Fah, Larn Luang, Saphan Khao, Krung Kasem, Kasatsuek, Yaek Noppawong, Luang to Wat Thepsirin.

As the traditional procession moved slowly along the route out of the temple at 7 am, funeral music was performed exactly as the actual day which is scheduled to be held on December 16.

Today’s rehearsal saw 1,424 palace authorities, religious officials, among them are 14 foreign Buddhist monks, took part in the procession along with 547 Thai monks from Thai temples across the country.

The final rehearsal will be held on December 10. During the rehearsal the 3.6 kilometre route from Wat Bowonniwet Vihara to Wat Thepsirin will be closed to traffic from 8 am until 10 am.

The procession will travel from Phra Sumane road to Luang road via Lan Luang road and Krung Kasem road.

The late Supreme Patriarch died in October 2013 at 100 years old.
