SRT increases train service on NY holiday

BANGKOK, 8 December 2015 (NNT) - The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will add extra trains during the New Year long holiday to prevent stranded passengers. Tickets of normal trains on all routes have been sold out.

The SRT on Monday reported that now there was no ticket left for all types of trains on all routes from 30 December 2015 to 4 January 2016.

The SRT will therefore provide 16 more trains on the northern and northeastern routes for around 14,000 more passengers and two more trains/day on the southern route. Passengers can buy train tickets from 5.30 AM on their departure day.

The SRT will also increase security at train stations to facilitate passengers and prevent instigators of violence.
