fireplay
What is the process for making this happen and how long does it take? And any idea where? I imagine my first step is to go to any police department to the documents desk. Request my own police report. Pay a fee show passport. So then when can i get this back? Then do i need to have this document translated? And then do i have the original and translation get an apostille? Who does that? Is this correct? fireplay
So i guess i will just go pick up the report then bring it to the american consulate to get notarized....but does it need to be translated?
fireplay
Well apparently you can't get a background check police report from the police station. I have been directed to immigration. This seems like its gonna be a run around process....no one here has requested a background police check in Thailand?
expatbrit
If you want a Thai police criminal record check it must be applied for in Bangkok http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/
CharlieH
As this is Chiang Mai related, moving to CHIANG MAI forum.
fireplay
Really!!! In order for me to get a police report I have to apply in bkk? Where? I am operating under tight time constraints. Edited December 8, 2015 by fireplay
Ozziepat
A Thai police background check is required to apply for a US green card. An application is submitted in person to and the check conducted only by national police headquarters in Bangkok. The result is mailed, and the time involved is nominally two weeks. That is for a Thai citizen. YMMV. Edited December 8, 2015 by Ozziepat
Somnambulist
Thailand is not in the Treaty of Apostille so apostilling is irrelevant to Thailand. Do you mean notarized?
Rob13
If you're American, you need to go through an agency. Check online. It'lll take a couple of weeks to complete the process. Edited December 9, 2015 by Rob13
fireplay
An agency! Yes notarized apostilled whatever i need to have my official thai police report authenticated and certified...I have to have an agency do all that? Expatbrit supplied a link to be followed in bkk
Rob13
Who's the report for. It may only need notarised which would be much easier than apostilling. The US embassy can notorise. But you should check with whoever is requesting it what kind of stamp they require.
purushanti
Perhaps this thread and other similar ones may help?
