Anyone had experience of obtaining a single entry from Hong Kong recently? Searched forums but cannot find any recent reports...

I am a British citizen

Thanks in advance

Just walked out, 5 people in front of me, took 10 min, consulate lady flipped through passport, new passport Canada, only 2 visa waver stamps in it:

'You already stay 2 month, you enter October and November, what you do!?

I said I like to spend winter in Thailand. She stamped application, collected 300 HKD

'You come Monday!'

She never asked for any tickets, printed bank statement that I had on me, nothing. But if I had my previous passport, filled with Tourist Visas and wavers, I'm not sure.

Is there anyone who has recently gone to HK for single entry tourist visa? Can you tell me how easy or difficult it was? I am looking for somewhere with less problem.

Thank you!

UK passport holder received SETV in Hong Kong September 2016. Easy. Apply in the morning, collection afternoon of following day. Very efficient and, when I was there, no queue.

I flew on Hong Kong Express, a pretty good airline with excellent promotional fares when I traveled. If you want to economize, you will need to settle for a tiny single room in Kowloon. Rooms in big 3-4 star hotels are expensive.

Thank you BritTim. My friend has UK passport as well.

He is living in Thailand on tourist visa more than a year with the same passport. Having at least 4 or 5 SETV on the same passport might make it difficult though, Hong Kong sounds a lot easier than Bali.

Cheers.

I'm HKID card holder and British passport. Always get my SETV from HK for 300 HKD.

Very easy and no questions asked. I got 3 last year and 2 this year and no questions asked. Apply morning and pick up next day afternoon.

You can get return ticket on Emirates quite cheap, it's a few k more than HK Express or Air Asia but you get baggage allowance and nice seat and food! Once in HK just stay in guest house in Jordan or TST or MK for about 350hkd a night....get clean bed, shower and wifi but small room. A crappy hotel will set you back 700hkd at least so no point to do that. Good luck.
