single entry tourist visa

Featured Replies

do i require proof of onward travel? thanks

It depends upon where you apply.

The embassy and consulate in Laos and Penang does not ask for one.

Hope it's OK to piggyback on this since it's recent and the topic title is applicable...

What's the current state-of-the-art on best sources for a single-entry tourist visa in either Laos or Cambodia? (My definition of "best" would be fastest, most routine, and most hassle-free. My definition of "hassle-free" would be fewest add-on requirements to the basic application package. My definition of "current" is since the new METV regime was implemented...) I really don't mind legitimate documention requirements; 'just don't want to be surprised with something I hadn't planned on.

Savanniket? Vientiene? Pnom Penh? ??

No reports of any changes for Vientiane or Savannakhet. Still just your passport plus a copy and an application form. Also a copy of your Lao visa/entry.

I don't recommend Phnom Penh for any visa.

Delete PP from your list of options add Penang and then choose according to convenience of travel.

Thanks to both of you! Are these a submit-by-_______am first day, pick-up-______pm next day proposition? (Have never obtained a visa from anywhere except the states before.)

whistling.gif As far as is known there is no current change in the policy of obtaining a single entry tourist visa anywhere in South East Asia.

Having said that, always be aware things can change, nothing is certain forever.

Vientiane by 11:30 am pickup 2 pm.

Savannakhet by 11 am pickup 2 pm

Penang not sure but is about the same.

Just curious, why is Phnom Penh not recommended for a single entry tourist visa?

I've heard it can take 4 days to get it unless you pay an agency, any other reasons? Assuming someone likes the city and is happy to pay an agency?

The long time to get a visa and the need to use an agency to get it quicker.

Also the embassy is not consistent in their requirements. Latest is that they are asking for a ticket out of the country to get it sometimes. People have also gone there and found out the visa section was closed because all the staff were busy because there was some high level meeting going on.

If a person wants to go there they can but I only recommend places that I am sure of what their requirements are.
