I met a couple of Russian guys who are gay refugees

Last week I was returning from a quick trip to North America and ended up sitting next to a Russian guy. I would guess he was in his late 20's maybe early 30's. He had a partner, but he was seated in front of us. We got talking and it turned out he and the other guy were refugees who were resettled because they were gay. They had been in Canada about 6 months.

There were other people sitting around and both seemed a little uncomfortable discussing their situation in any detail.

Kudos to Canada for taking these two guys. Both seemed like really nice guys and reasonably well educated.

Anybody know any others who have gotten refugee status for being gay?
