In the Phillipines there is a saying for someone that butterflies, i.e. changing girlfriends or boyfriends alot, or butterfly eyes, someone always looking for someone else.. Is there an equivalent in thai for butterfly, and butterfly eyes. Regards, BD

My translation of that expression was perhaps not completely on the mark.

I checked my dictionary and googled for the phrase to see how it's used in context - based on that, the meaning of มัว here seems to be "be occupied with; be absorbed in; be busy with" and แต่ is the same as in มีแต่ (there are only/just...), เอาแต่ (you just/only want/take...).

So the phrase would be something like "Don't waste all your time drinking." "Don't get so caught up in drinking (undertone "that you'll miss studying")

Here are a few examples of the phrase used in context (from googling):

อย่ามัวแต่ สนใจ ในเรื่องงาน

Based on these, I think it could be defined as 'get [so] caught up in [that one misses the goal/essence/point]'

By the way, the first meaning listed for มัว in the dictionary is "dim; overcast; cloudy; blur, blurred".
