papa go Laos 2.0

Featured Replies

Left Patts late Tuesday morning for BKK Hualumoong train station.

Got lost only a little.

Took overnight sleeper train to Chiangmai, arriving 0700 on the 16th.

Rode my ceeber over to Nan, but not without incident.

Going thru a small town in Phayao, a gal on a Wave abruptly turned right from the shoulder into my path.

Tried to swerve but clipped her and went down hardish.

papa ok…

Girl on Wave apparently okay, did runner.

Local cops insisted on taking me to local hospital where they dressed abrasions on left knee and arm.

B284 including pills.

Broke off left foot peg and scratched fairing, bar-ends.

Dented tank a little.

Cop had his buddy take bike to a shop where they were able to find a 2nd-hand foot-peg bracket, B500.

Jacket tore up.

Jeans tore up.

Left boot tore up.

Waist pack tore up

Back on the road after 2 hours,

so very lucky, thanks Buddha.

Road the hills surrounding Nan on 17th for 4-5 hours,

dodging / waiting rain.

Nice pavement. rollercoaster.

Best paved riding I’ve seen.

Will do more riding Nan for a couple days then enter Laos on 22nd.

Man, that looks awesome, is this from current trip or last one?

Thailand or Laos?

Glad your OK Al, have a safe trip for the rest of your journey, and take care.

If you in around the Nan area, check out the 1149. fantastic bit of great condition tarmac.

There is another border crossing in Nan that looks interesting, have a friend in Uttradit, could leave my truck there and bike Nan before our next trip to Laos next year.

Where exactly is the 1149, can't locate it on my map?

Sorry, my mistake. the 1148, not the 1149, north of Nan.

Yes, can see that thanks will try to incorporate it, need one more border run before we go to Europe, will do that early. Maybe stay overnight in Thailand and hit the border early morning and have a full day's ride in Laos.
