ISP in Bangkok

Hi,

My friend lives in Bangkok and uses TOT. The internet has been very slow and intermittent for a while. He had the tech people came over to take a look at it but was told that nothing was wrong in the cable and devices.

What are some other ISP he can check out? A few neighbour use True but Im afraid it could have the same problem.

If his TOT service is truly operating properly then there is not much he can do other than try another ISP. TOT is not known for the fastest, most reliable service.

But if your friend is really having issues with slow speed to "international" websites, then that is generally just a problem with all Thailand ISPs due to limited bandwidth on their international gateway servers....bandwidth cost money and Thai ISPs don't seem to want to buy a lot since the great majority of their customers are Thais which predominately access in-country Thai websites. Sure, Thais also access sites like Youtube for example, but Youtube has mirrored sites in nearby countries such as Singapore and international bandwidth to Singapore is generally pretty good....it's just when you start reaching out to the U.S., Europe, etc., that the bandwidth is not that good unless maybe you have a pricey premium or business plan.

And if he's having long ping time issues to the U.S/Europe, well, there is nothing any ISP can do about that until some genius can figure out how to make electrical signals go faster than the speed of light.
