NLA reached resolution on selection of new members of vacant committee positions

BANGKOK, 18 December 2015 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly has filled the vacant seats on some committees tasked with serving the legislature.

During its sitting on Thursday, NLA’s First Vice President Surachai Liengboonlertchai chaired the meeting on the selection of three new advisory committee members for both the House of Representatives and the Senate after previous appointees have completed their terms.

Members of the legislature were informed to choose a list of 13 candidates, whose background and qualification have been verified and who were earlier recommended by the main NLA meeting, and cast their votes in a secret ballot.

From the list, three have been nominated to be selected as an advisory member of the House of Representatives committee while the other 10 were assigned for the selection of three advisor members of the Senate committee.

After all the votes were cast, former secretary-general of the Office of the Civil Service Commission Nontigorn Kanchanachitra was found with the highest number of votes to join the House of the Representatives committee, while former senator Air Chief Marshal Weerawit Kongsak and former advisor to the Secretariat of the Senate Pichet Kitisin were selected to join the Senate committee.
