December 22, 201510 yr Being on an annual extension of a retirement visa and not wanting to lose the hard-won status, I understand the need to never exit Thailand without a re-entry permit. I also understand that an Immigration "re-entered" stamp at date of return in the passport effectively resets the due date for the next 90 day report to be 90 days from that date. For sake of certainty however, can I confirm what happens if the departure period from Thailand is in excess of 90 days? Thanks in anticipation.
December 22, 201510 yr It is the same if you stay out of the country for one day or hundreds of days the 90 days start again when you enter the country.
December 22, 201510 yr As said by UbonJoe above! But bear in mind, that you must be back in Thailand again before your extension ends, otherwise you lose that extension, and have to start all over again. Glegolo
December 23, 201510 yr So if on day 89 one leaves the country, goes to Cambodia or Laos or anywhere for one let's just say a week for a periodic sight see around another Southeast Asian country (let's say with a re-entry permit) then a few days or a week later comes back and re-enters Thailand, one has 90 days from that point to report. Did one just effectively "dodge" the initial 90 day reporting period? Just curious that if for convenience and for a trip or two one might do anyway, it is ok to not have these contiguous 90 day reports?

Leaving before the end of the 90th day is not dodging anything. There are many people that never do a 90 day report because they never stay here that long. An example would be those that are on extensions and working outside the country on a rotation.
December 23, 201510 yr AND well to know for you - A leaving and an entry to Thailand is exactly the same as a 90 days report. By just leaving and returning you have just nade your 90 days report.. Glegolo
December 23, 201510 yr The answer is right on the title of the form...Report of Foreigner Staying Longer Than 90 Days. The key words being: STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS. They can't really make it any clearer than that.
