Udomdej dismisses claim of Rajabhakti statute's foundation subsidence as nonsensical

Featured Replies

I keep my fingers crossed nothing like it happens, but when one(?) of the giant statues would make a fatal nose-dive, I guess there would be a lightning-fast, serious, in-depth, investigation 'inspired' by 'people who don't need stars on their shoulders to be listened at', ...and some guys might lose much, much more than only face!

"the cracks might have been caused by cement contraction."

What some might call a defective design and/or substandard cement mix. Regardless of the cause, the cracks reflect a lack of oversight and inattention to detail. Hardly what one would expect with a General in charge of the project.

Hmm, only some cracks in the cement, no problem then... As long as there have no 'unplanned savings' (the structural engineers didn't know about) been made on the concrete and rebarb, no problem! Oops, what did I say there? Things like that never, ever, happen in the LoS...

Well. the park WAS closed for repairs........that day the kids got yanked off that train.

Udomunpronouncablename is a very good man. He's just a very bad Wizard.

The question as to whether or not there has been subsidence is knowable by something called measuring.

The levels you mean, or just the (increasing?) width of the cracks?

(P.S.: I seriously doubt records have been made of the levels as, eventually, measured at work's end, so what to compare with...?)

Not to worry. A foundation cracks, breaks, and a statue does a belly flop, they find someway to blame it on Thaksin or Yingluck. Or some Burmese workers.

Let's hope these good gentlemen and lady are also aware of the "statue of limitation".whistling.gif

Guess you 'missed' the irony in my reaction (puttting a layer on top of 'Srikcir''s post) but never mind, didn't expect you to either, as I'm not a member of your club...

Now look who's bringing Thaksin and Yingluck into this one... Pfff, as if there are not enough wrongdoings already by the master puppeteer and his clone, who'd care about blaming them for this one...

And here I was cruely tricked into viewing the topic!

I was fascinated by the possibility of comprehending the definition of a "cracked statute".blink.png

You know the tactic - pretend to absurdly blame Thaksin and / or Yingluck. The hope is that their real misdeeds can then be hidden and dismissed along with the absurd.

The usual Shin fan boys use it regularly.

And to add that this shoddy construction vis corruption was one of the justifications for the '06 coup. Several investigations were initiated by the junta and the investigating panels found that the damage was minute and common and cost to fix was less than 1% of the total airport cost. The junta was accused of delaying the repairs and intensifying the airport's problems in order to pin further blame on the deposed government. Sound similar.

Khun Eric, making of the Suvarnabhumi cesspool 'one of the justifications for the '06 coup' might be 'a bit of a stretch', and lead one to ask you, very much in your style, to bring up proof and evidence to support your allegation...

Also, lifting the cover of that stinking pit might not be the best idea for you, as, one could start reviving the remembrances about some wealthy influential clan you know very well being deeply involved in very 'juicy' land deals on- and around- the, then, future airport, not speaking of another wealthy family which was, for some 'unknown' reason, given free reins in the organisation of the interior of the airport's passengers area, after 'of course' being granted a monopoly on the commercial activities inside it, and even forgetting about the 'men-in-charge' of the construction, like of the subsiding runways, and their 'political leanings', a few of having recently been found guilty of malversations...

But this being 'out of topic', let's cut it short, it will save you from some embarassing explainations.

Go crack yourself up.

All above board the eh Eric? No bribe paid to Thaksin's sister for the car park contract (US$ 250m not to be sneezed at) or was the guy telling the truth when he said he did pay her? Was he nobbled through fear and changed his story? Or was he lying and decided to come clean?

We'll never know. And it was very generous of her not to sue him for defamation (maybe a clue there Eric?).

And no doubt many families profited from insider knowledge and some special 'deals".

As usual, the corruption investigations never go anywhere near the big boys or those under their patronage, a la rice scheme.

Is the identity of this mysterious Amulet trader, who has fled to Hong Kong already determined?

If all is black or white why do so many find cause to see red?

where will it end all this hullabaloo over the rajabhakti statues the red shirts are intent on making an issue out of it first it was corruption now its a case of subsidence what next?

Surely, someone might have considered some quality management and checks?

They probably considered quality management but pretty quick because of the other thing to consider...

And after considering the cheques for some time, it was finally decided that cash would be better tongue.png

I popped into the park today, and despite not wanting to be impressed, i did think the statues were impressive. There were a few cracks around, but i presume laying paving on that vast area you will always have some.

Lack of amenities and nothing much to do there other than look at the statues, but the actual spectacle of the statues was impressive, as were the very well maintained grounds. But for 1 billion baht, i think you should expect this.

Are you suggesting a general should know all about concrete, subsidense and such, or are you suggesting the mere sight of a general should inspire workers to the point of delivering top quality, near foreign style work?

Why can't questions be asked about both? Are the two mutually exclusive of each other?

Thaksin is so far ahead of these clowns it's almost unbelievable.

He knew right from the start to just sit back, do nothing and these clowns would implode from their own greed and incompetence.

Is Dr T's heroes welcome home parade going to be 2016 or 2017??
