High Season Arrives on Cambodia’s Jewel. Visit Koh Rong

KOH RONG – Any doubts that the all-important high season for Cambodia’s coast has arrived can be dispelled by a quick trip to the island of Koh Rong, where business is beginning to boom in the run-up to Christmas and New Year. According to some business owners here, however, the critical high season revenue, which sustains many businesses through the rainy season, has yet to show itself, with November and early December remaining unfortunately quiet.

“It’s certainly been a slower start to this year’s high season,” says Paddy, the manager at Monkey Island in Koh Tuch village. Monkey Island, partnered with the ever-popular and constantly busy Monkey Republic in Sihanoukville and, as of this week, a new venture in Kampot too, remains Koh Rong’s most popular hangout for backpackers and budget travellers.
