Jonathan Fairfield
Police parade down Soi Bangla to inject confidence into Phuket tourists Phuket Gazette PHUKET: Boots hit the ground in unison on Tuesday as Phuket police officers paraded down the island’s premier party destination, Soi Bangla, to boost tourists’ confidence in public safety during the holidays. “Police must remain vigilant throughout this time. The high season of Phuket is in full swing as we celebrate Christmas and New Year – both of which are celebrations that could attract criminals to our island,” said Phuket Provincial Police Deputy Commander Peerayuth Karajedee. “In order to further boost crime prevention efforts, police, military personnel and police volunteers will be patrolling tourist areas to ensure the safety of locals, expats and tourists.” Full story: http://www.phuketgazette.net/phuket-news/Police-parade-down-Soi-Bangla-inject-confidence/62708?desktopversion -- Phuket Gazette 2015-12-

I can see quite a few criminals in that photo.

hansgruber
I thought those ATVs arent road legal. They break the law even for a media oppotunity so why would anyone respect them and the law.

klauskunkel
now they have instilled confidence into this week's tourists, what about next week when we have new tourists? Shall they be deprived of confidence? I say "no!" Tourists need confidence at least once a week. Edited December 24, 2015 by klauskunkel

WhizBang
Inject confidence? More likely fear of what the police are up to today. Criminals, one and all.
bangon04
"Police parade down Soi Bangla to inject confidence into Phuket tourists " about as much as any other parade in Soi Bangla...... TAT should book them weekly - or maybe every day at exactly 18.00 hours.

duckmandon
Yes and while they were parading down Bangla Road the criminals were robbing, raping & murdering elsewhere. Good job BiB. Maybe do your jobs first then think about the parade!
DrDave
Maybe they were patrolling to ensure that all of the sex show touts had the proper placards and "uniforms". A couple of nights ago, I noticed that all of these touts have new ping-pong show placards with a marijuana leaf graphic. They also seem to have "uniforms", as in polo shirts with different colors being worn in different sections of Bangla. Maybe they've taken a cue from the tuk-tuk "association" and started up a sex show tout association?
