October 13, 200619 yr I've been using a service which provides low-cost calls from the UK to my Thai mobile. The service is charged at UK national rates and the cost of transferring the call to Thailand is covered in this national call-cost. So I have to pay nothing to receive these long-distance calls! Does anyone know if there is a similar service in the USA? I want to receive long-distance calls on my Thai mobile, but where the caller in the USA is not charged an 'excessive' rate. Thanks Simon
October 13, 200619 yr Simon, We use http://www.voipdiscount.com/en/index.html calling both land and mobile lines from the US to Thailand. Cost 10Euro per 3month. (You can use from anywhere in the world) The caller from the US (or any other country ) will need a broadband internet. Prior to voip we used http://www.thaitel.com/ cards they were good too.
October 14, 200619 yr How many callers do you want/need to enable? What would you consider to be a reasonable charge (per minute)? There are many different possible solutions but all depends on your application. Can you describe your requirements in a bit more detail? For a single caller a pre-paid calling card is probably the best option. They would dial a toll-free number in the U.S.A. to initiate their call. You could buy this pre-paid service and dole out the access number and PW to them. I've used idPhonecard for years; the rate form the U.S.A. to a Thai mobile is $0.064/min. ( 6.4 U.S. cents per minute ) For multiple random in-bound callers a SkypeIn number in the U.S.A. might be best. That would be a local number, which some people might have to pay long-distance charges to call. Then you could take the SkypeIn call here in Thaialnd on your PC, or have it transferred to your mobile, using an external device.
October 15, 200619 yr Try www.ReliableCom. You get a cheaper rate if your caller(USA) has unlimted long distance and can use one of the local numbers listed.I use the xpress card and get about 3cents a minute or 199 minutes on a 5 dollar card to thailand both cell and land phone. they do have 800 numbers to use but the price per minute goes up.Alos make sure there are no monthly fee's with their other cards listed. Hope this helps Edited October 15, 200619 yr by divndave
