Missing stamps

Featured Replies

My friend (honestly) messed up and entered Laos without being stamped in. After getting a single entry tourist visa she entered Thailand again but immigration refused to give her an entry stamp.

So she stamped out and is now in again.

Any ideas cos im clueless.

Thanks guys

If she paid for her Lao visa at the border crossing they stamp you in, before they return your passport. the last person you pass just checks that the stamp is in your passport.

Your post and question is not clear.

Thai immigration will want to see an exit stamp from Laos and may refuse entry without one. If she doesn't have an exit stamp she needs to sort that out with Laos immigration.

Nothing much makes sense. I assume your friend received a visa on arrival in Laos. I can imagine walking past the immigration booths without receiving a stamp but, most often, this is checked again after the booths. Assuming not, the Thai consulate would normally spot it. Failing that, Laos immigration on exit must notice. At any rate, the error can up to this point be corrected by Laos immigration.

If indeed, your friend is now in Laos, get Laos immigration to fix the issue with entry and exit stamps. It should be clear from the VOA that entry was validly made.

The Lao entry stamps are given by the officer who processes your Lao visa, who puts it in your passport, where you pay for your Lao visa, he shows it to you when he/she returns your passport to you. There is one last check to make sure that you have the entry stamp.

I have seen both cases where the entry stamp was already provided with the VOA and where it is not. That is the only thing that makes me believe the OP could be true. Even then, it is a strange story.
