Prime Minister Hun Sen has suspended drivers’ license registration following complaints that the process is too costly. On Tuesday night, Mr. Hun Sen responded through his Facebook page to comments about the cost of applying for a new or renewed driving license.

“I received requests from citizens by Facebook to lower the price for driving licenses,” he said. He ordered his Transport Minister and Finance Minister to discuss the issue and find a workable solution.

The premier said he asked Finance Minister Aun Porn Moniroth to discuss a price reduction for drivers’ license applications and suggested the removal of other costs related to the process, which he called a waste of money.
