Visa exemption alert

Featured Replies

I have been reading that the Immigration officer get an "alert" when you have 6 visa expemptions to Thailand. So I have a couple of questions. Just curious because I have a 1 year extension.

1. 6 visa exemption in what time period? A year or what ?

2. What happens when you arrive on your 7th or 8th ?

3. Will a turist visa make you start on zero again ?

1/3 I have seen no info about that question.

2. They will question you about what you are doing here. They may ask you to show financial proof (20k baht) and/or proof you are not working here,

Thanks Joe. Do they get the alert on their computer from your passport number ?

Yes

OP, I'm also a little confused. If it was just about proving you have funds and are not working, I see no need for the METV. Personally I live here on yearly extensions. Based in bkk. However travel (by air) to places throughout thailand and asia.

Could not be working (unless dm) and easily show funds. Why wouldn't someone traveling around Asia in and out of los just use back to back visa exempt.

  1. Uncorroborated report that it's 6 of 10 or more days within 1 year.

Nothing or an interview. They want to be satisfied your visits are for tourism/leisure only.

No reason why it would.
