Three boys were savagely hacked to death by a teenager in an apparent fit of jealousy in Siem Reap province on Saturday, according to police. Aing Suoy, 8, Mat Ya, 13, and Mich Ka Art, 16, were attacked with a scythe in a cassava field in Angkor Chum district’s Kok Doung commune after they were knocked from their motorbike, according to James McCabe, director of the National Police’s Child Protection Unit. “Between 12pm and 12:30pm yesterday, while riding a motorcycle on a provincial dirt track, three young males were confronted by the offender who was armed with a long machete-type weapon and attacked them, causing the motorcycle to crash,” McCabe said. “The offender continued his attack on the heads of the victims, causing all three fatal head injuries as well as defensive injuries.”

The oldest of the murdered boys was the target of the attack, according to McCabe, who added that Chhen had made a full confession. “The suspect has told police that a few days ago he saw the victim riding his moto with a girl, and that this is one of the reasons he carried out the attack,” McCabe said.

Dreadful, what is this world coming too.

The world is not "coming to" anything. This has been happening for thousands of years..With the number of people in the world with the reporting on world wide media it just seems to increase.

Yes you are probably right about the media coverage bringing more horrific murders to light. I just find that senseless killings like this that we never heard of years ago absolutely dreadful.

‘Killer’ back in jail after escape
Tue, 5 January 2016

A teenager who allegedly hacked three boys to death in Siem Reap province on Saturday was rearrested yesterday evening, after escaping from police custody just before dawn.

A huge search operation was launched after Chhorn Chhen, 17, broke out of his police cell at 5am yesterday. The officers who were supposed to be guarding him were ostensibly elsewhere, preparing for a flag-saluting ceremony.

“We apprehended him [Chhen] at 6:10pm after a report from villagers that they saw him walking near the provincial police station,” deputy Siem Reap provincial police chief Thorng Sakun said. “Now we have sent him to a secret location, but it is somewhere from which he will not be able to escape again.”
