CDC's Chatchai: New Constitution must not have more than 300 articles

BANGKOK, 7 January 2016 (NNT) – A spokesman of the Constitution Drafting Commission insists that the new charter must not be very long and contain too many details upon its completion.


CDC spokesman Chatchai Na Chiang Mai said on Wednesday that the charter drafters have already started working on the reform plans for the new draft charter.

Mr. Chatchai said that the CDC agreed that all details related to the reform efforts, particularly for the justice system, must be clearly written in the new Constitution.

The CDC spokesman believes that the charter drafting team will likely write the new charter in such a way that shows what results they would like to see at the end of the day more than writing everything in detail.

For other reform plans, Mr. Chatchai said that the review is not completed as the CDC will still need to hear more from the National Reform Steering Assembly.

In any case, he affirmed that the new charter will not have more than 300 articles in it.

Why does Thailand need up to 300 articles in its constitution when America statred out with only 7?

Probably will follow the same procedure as menus in restaurants here...

1) Chicken Steak

2) Pork Steak

3) Beef Steak

All come with the exact same thing, but there are 3 entries for it.

Likewise this will translate into

1) Respect your dad

2) Respect your mom

3) Respect the tea money

etc

Then again, does it really matter how many they have? It's not like traffic laws exists and being ignored and not enforced, so one might as well just be skeptical from the get go.

Remember how those were "god given rights"? Just like how....oh wait, it got amended because the omnipotent god didn't account for changes in society for the future ahead and....alright alright I'll stop being cynical and stuff.

The "God given rights" were a part of the Declaration of Independence, not the constitution.

The Declaration of Independence was issued in 1776.

The US Constitution was not in force until 1789.

Ty for correcting me on that.

Seems like I've been feeding into conflated statements when people use that phrase to win their argument somehow or I missed essential american history that "everybody knows how it's supposed to be meant and referred to"...though I'm leaning toward the former, specially seeing how universities have gone down the drain so much recently.

Then again....not like I care either way.

No worries. I just heard the question on the Jeopardy TV show recently is what made me think of it.

To round out the draft:

Article 301: The new charter will not have more than 300 articles in it.

Article 302: Articles 1-301 can be amended or abolished by overthrow of the government.
