Thai Visa Confusion

Featured Replies

Hi guys

My boyfriend and I are travelling to Thailand on 25th of December and staying till the 3rd. We are then travelling to Sri Lanka for 3 weeks and then back to Thailand at the end of January. What kind of visa will we need? We are Australian. If we get a 30 day visa when we arrive, will we have to get another when we re-enter?

Thanks

If we get a 30 day visa when we arrive, will we have to get another when we re-enter?

You will get 30 days (visa exemption) on arriving the first time, then stamped out when you leave to go to Sri Lanka.

Then when you enter Thailand again coming from Sri Lanka you will get another 30 days (visa exemption)

*Passport holders from 41 countries do not require a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes if their stay in the Kingdom does not exceed 30 days. This is called Visa Exemption.

How long are you staying in Thailand the second time ?

totster :o

It depends how long you wanna stay in Thailand the second time you enter here. If you got a double entry tourist visa from Oz, your entire trip would be sweet and you would be alowed to stay a total of 60 + 30 = 90 days the second time. If you want to stay longer, you could then do three border runs, each time giving you a 30 day visa exempt stamp taking you total of

90 + 30 + 30 + 30 = 180 days the second trip to thailand.

As long as you plan to be here less than a total of 90 days during a 6 month period, just forget the visa and just come in on the 30 day visa exempt stamp.
