No more stun gun fun: travelers from Thailand told not to take weapons to Hong Kong
By Coconuts Bangkok

Passport? Check. Foreign currency? Check. Stun gun? Not today.

BANGKOK: -- That's going to have to be the new checklist for travelers going from Thailand to Hong Kong, as the Foreign Ministry has issued a notice warning Thais not to take their stun guns over there, Bangkok Post reported.

I know. The spoilsports.

The ministry had to dole out the seemingly obvious advice after EIGHT Thais, clearly all Dr Evil-wannabes, were arrested at Hong Kong international airport over the last year over bringing in electric stun devices.

Stun guns are classified as weapons in Hong Kong and taking one there can land you a fine of up to HK$100,000 (THB 467,000) or even up to 14 years in the slammer.

I thought they were illegal here too,I mean a combat helmet is

classed as a war weapon.

But bringing a gun to Japan is OK, right?

Defensive gear, like bullet-proof vests, also forbidden in Thailand. Makes a lot of sense, eh? How about steel-toed shoes; are they illegal too?

The mighty military needs their finger in every pie that even smells like gunpowder.

The question has to be asked , why are they taking a stun gun in the first place, how did these guns get through Thai security in the first place..............................coffee1.gif

It boggles the mind how much 'weaponry' gets through Thai airport security checks. Guns to Japan, Stun Guns to Hong Kong, Rocket Launchers to wherever? Do Thai airport security staff actually know what they are looking for as banned goods?

They took stun guns on an aeroplane. they TOOK STUN GUNS ON AN AEROPLANE.

oh my days.
best not let Daesh find out about this..

yes they are. i was going to buy the iPhone "Yellow Jacket" stun gun, legal in some parts of the USA, and bring it with me to Thailand until I did some research.

seems everything sold at my local night market is illegal. real guns, knives, stun guns, pellet guns, brass knuckles, throwing stars, swords, sex toys.

i feel safe knowing the sex toys are off the streets.

someone told me prostitution is illegal here too. :)

Hell I couldn't even bring a bottle of hair gel on my carry on but these people managed to get a stun gun through security. Go figure.

Guns, stun guns are ok, don't try sex toys or porno' magazine - not allowed... LOS Land of Stupid...

Shocking...coffee1.gif

One staff once wanted me to take out the electric mosquito-killing "tennisracket" off my suitcase. It contained a battery and that was supposed not to be allowed. After I summed up a number of airliners that did not have any objections before a supervisor allowed me to take it along. Perhaps Thai airport security should consider focussing on other objects.
