SRT gathers public input on dual track project

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 13 January 2016 (NNT) – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has gathered public opinion from locals regarding the southern dual track railway's construction project, aiming to improve the economy and tourism.

The SRT hosts the second public forum regarding the southern dual track railway construction in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, announcing propositional details on track locations, stations, and environmental effects along with prevention methods.

The participants were allowed to voice their opinions and suggestions, which were all gathered for consideration in further studies of the project that should be compiled in accordance to the local demands and actuality.

The Surat Thani - Hat Yai Central - Songkhla dual track railway project includes the construction of a 321 kilometer-long track with 47 stations passing through 4 provinces, namely Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Songkhla.

The project will be carried out in two phases, with the 40-station section from Surat Thani to Hat Yai Central set to commence first.

Isn't this just one part of the SRT's 20-year-long track-doubling project, which has been underway for several years, funny they only now thought of asking for input from locals ?
