Heavy traffic around CMU on the 24th & 25th

Featured Replies

Just a heads up that traffic will be heavy around CMU (Suthep/Huay Kaew) with Nimmanhaemin probably fully or partially blocked off. This is due to CMU graduation ceremonies, the 25th being the main day. So plan accordingly if on the west side of town. I'll probably be taking a couple of days off then. smile.png

Thanks, I'll be checking out the GLMs (good looking moms).

Better walk, not drive!

Bumping this reminder up that Sunday & Monday will probably have more traffic then normal. Sunday are rehearsals and Monday the main event. Suspect the malls and restaurants will be crowded also due to families and friends from all over the country coming up.

I think I just got a taste of things to come. Coming from Mae Hia on the Canal road to the university traffic was queued from one stop light to the next to Suthep road and more. All 3 lanes filled, 4th lane if you include the ones taking the shoulder to get around. Normal time for me is 15-20 minutes tops, today 45-50 minutes.

Had plenty of time to look around and saw quite a few Bangkok plates. So my projection of heavy traffic extends from Friday through Monday rather than just the 2 days. smile.png

Thanks for that. I do traverse that way, but I can find alternate routes if I know ahead of time.

Think tomorrow I will go down Hang Dong road and cut over through Wing 41 and see how that works. I'm taking Monday off as the university is a nightmare to traverse with the roads blocked off to my office. smile.png

At least the drivers from Bangkok won't be able to use the Wing 41 road. ;) But if that fails, then you could just drive through the villages West of the Canal road, and then past Wat Umong.

Huay Kaew Rd is a mess tonight. Backed up to the moat.
