PM ‘Regrets’ Selfie with Sam Rainsy

Now that he has some experience taking selfies with his supporters, Prime Minister Hun Sen said yesterday that he regretted the infamous selfie he took with opposition leader Sam Rainsy at their much publicized family dinner at the Cambodiana Hotel last July 11.

With many, many more selfies taken since then –with his own family, with supporters, and with CPP party members – appearing on Facebook virtually daily, the prime minister said in a Facebook post yesterday that the selfies with Mr. Rainsy, who is now living in self-imposed exile in France, were only for show. He claimed the CNRP president did not truly believe the two could be friends.

The prime minister said, “I used to take selfies with my political dialogue partner that on the outside seemed so close and nice, but the truth is that it masked disloyalty. That upsets me the most,” he said.
