Min of Interior pushes to resolve local issues of rubber, drought

BANGKOK, 15 January 2016 (NNT) - The Ministry of Interior is urging provincial governors to quickly solve problems related to low rubber prices and drought.

Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda spoke with the provincial governors via video conference to hand down government policy to encourage prompt action to achieve these goals.

Regarding the price of rubber, General Anupong said qualified rubber farmers will be compensated through an aid program, while the use of rubber will be promoted across various industries to raise the market price.

The demand for rubber is now being surveyed and the results will be presented to the government for consideration. Rubber farmers will also be given packs of rice under an assistance program.

Regarding the drought situation, provincial governors have also been told to survey information on water shortages, in order to better develop a management plan. The Interior Minister added that relevant agencies must cooperate to reduce road accidents this year.

Gen Anupong also spoke about other domestic issues, such as land problems, OTOP sales, illegal fishing, and drug abuse. The Interior Minister stressed that government officials involved in the program must complete their tasks promptly and transparently.

Quickly solve the problems, much easier said than done, and as usual,

they want to attack the problems AFTER they have occurred, the drought

has been building up for about the last 3 years, the rubber prices they have

no control over, its a supply and demand issue.good luck.

Talk things to death - Yes

Resolve them - cheesy.gif

Somebody just needs to figure out how to turn rubber into rain - Sorted!

"Qualified rubber farmers will be compensated..."

The purchase budget announced so far equates to 2.5% of annual production.

I wonder how the lucky ones will be"qualified"?

Don't worry, I'm sure the prices of rubber will bounce back !
