We are planning for a trip to Ptachabun province,

heard about an interesting mountain area with camping site on the top platforms of the high hills,

waterfalls, and many natural attractions,

On the way we want to pass to sunflower farms, since we are driving ourselves it's easy to drop at any point,

Are there any other attractive places in the surround of Petchabun to visit?

beside this, my friend told me that he heard about a beautiful place that called "The Maldives of Thailand" any idea about this? or seem to be an island?

Any additional details will be highly appreciated,

Regards.

I think you may be referring to Khao Kho, a.k.a. "The Switzerland of Thailand". on and near Highway 12, on the west side of Petchabun province.

You don't say where you are driving from. Sunflower farms in Saraburi province, though I presume these are a seasonal attraction, and I don't know when the season is. My guess would be not now.

There are numerous sights in and around Phetchabun.

As above Khao Khor accessed from route 12 is very popular this time of year with mostly Thais.

There are now hundreds of resorts dotted around this area, there is the large Pagoda and Wat Pha Son Kaew is situated on the right as you drive up the mountain from Lom Sak as well as the Communist site with helicopters and information regarding the fighting that took place in the 1970s with a look.

There are several waterfalls situated on route 12 towards Phitsanulok,Kaeng Sopha and various others.

Phu Tab Berk is another mountain area with more camping than Khao Khor and will be nice and cool in the mornings, the attraction being the thick blanket of fog/cloud etc which is below the top of the mountain.

Nam Nao also on route 12 towards Khon Kaen has various sites.

Here's a link with more info.

And a couple of pictures from the top of Phu Tab Berk.

The chicken on the way at Wichian Buri is also a popular stop on route.
