In a moving statement, the NASA scientist says he is grateful for the wonders he’s seen – and vows to spend his last months fighting climate change

LONDON: -- British astronaut Piers Sellers yesterday made an extraordinarily emotional statement to reveal he is dying of cancer.

And he pledged to spend his remaining weeks and months while alive fighting climate change to ensure the future of the planet.

Sellers, a hero of Tim Peake who is currently on board the International Space Station, went on three missions and completed six spacewalks.

Back in 2006 he won a prestigious Daily Mirror Pride of Britain award and met Tony Blair at No 10 the next day.
