PM hit back at ex-energy minister for denying him overseas travel permit

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha on Tuesday hit back at former energy minister Pichai Naripthapant over the latter’s criticism against his administration’s refusal to grant him a travel visit to the United States to attend a congressional committee’s meeting.

He asked the media whether the former Pheu Thai minister should be allowed to visit the US as invited by a congressional committee if he continues to speak badly about his administration and Thailand.

“Do not advise us on what we are doing. Why didn’t he do when he was in the government? Why there are so many problems now? Don’t raise the issue of human rights violations with me because I have never breached anybody’s rights,” said the prime minister apparently in response to Mr Pichai’s criticism.

The Rule of Law!

Please apply the law. If he is free on bail by a court order, then traveling might be restricted by this court. If not, and if he has not been found guilty of any offense by a court of law, he should be free to travel, whether the general likes him or not.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Doesn't a passport holder have a human right to travel wherever they like?

Denied the right because they have an opinion. Clear human rights abuse.

Playground stuff.

The answer should be yes, but unfortunately the answer is no.

The passport is not owned the the holder. It's owned by the issuing country.

"I have never breached anybody’s rights,”

Once again I fear for Prayut's mental health. He seems to exhibit symptoms of one or more illnesses:

1. Dissociative identity disorder, "a neurosis in which the personality becomes dissociated into two or more distinct parts each of which becomes dominant and controls behavior from time to time to the exclusion of the other parts."

2. Bipolar disorder (aka manic depressive illness), "a serious medical illness that causes shifts in mood, energy, and ability to function."

3. Alzheimer's disease known for dementia and memory loss.

For the sake of national and personal security, he needs to consider taking a long vacation or seek the healing calm of a monastery. wai2.gif

When Mr Pichai was released from detention he spoke publically about his "morale support for the government in solving the countries pressing problems"

Who left those problems? funny how all of a sudden accountability seems to have been lost in this story

Nope. You don't have the right to a passport. Countries issue them and can take them away or cancel them.

UK does it with football hooligans.
