ATHENS: -- The Greek government’s plans for pension reforms have brought thousands of farmers out on the streets in protests in the north of the country, and in Athens it was pensioners who voiced their anger.

The farmers have threatened to block key roads with their tractors on Wednesday.

“We have to stop this pension reform plan, because in the end we will be left both without pensions and without health care. They just keep cutting and cutting with each bailout that comes,” said one elderly woman in Athens.

“Their goal is for social security as we know it to cease to exist,” said an 82-year-old man.

Unions have called a general strike for February 4 to protest against the pension and labour market reforms international creditors say Greece needs to revive its economy. However arguments that Greece continuing with austerity is counter-productive are gaining ground in some quarters.

Always, the end result of socialism. At least they'll have "income equality" because no one will have any, LOL.

No problem with this one, same old bail out time again !

When the whole Greek society is having a National holiday for 20 years.

Then you will end up with a high debt.

Time to pay

I just took a bus from the west coast of Greece to Thessaloniki today and saw dozens of tractors parked in fields along the highway in several places. At first I thought it was some kind of tractor exhibition but they must already be getting things ready for the protests.

The optimal word here is FIRST . They will be many more protest and the government will side with the protesters in order to stay in power. If The EU leased out the area to North Korea for their nuclear testing it would not be a total loss.

follow the moneytrails !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im surprised that they had 20 days without a protest. You can bet those Greeks will make up for it through the year.
