Change from a Non B to a Non O in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hello, I have been on a non B for the past 8 years. My visa and WP will expire in March. i would like to change to a non O based on marriage, and i was wondering if this is possible to do in Bangkok or do i have to leave the country. 8 years ago, i was able to convert my multiple entry tourist visa to the Non B at Bangkok immigration , but not sure what the criteria is from B to O. Thanks in advance!

Do you do 90 day reports or do you leave the country every 90 days ?

You cannot change non immigrant visa classes at immigration.

If you have a non-b visa from an embassy or consulate you could apply for an extension based upon marriage.

You could also change the reason for an extension of stay based upon working to marriage.

Thanks, I should have stated in the OP that I am on a 1 year extension that will expire in March. It is my understanding that I can extend the current extension for 60 days based on marriage, however I want to go full non O marriage as I will be finished with employment here after March . I am still 3 years shy from getting a retirement visa so that's not an option.

Suggest you re-read UJ's post.

If you really want an "O" visa you will have to apply for it at a Thai Embassy/Consulate in a nearby country.

I did not mention a 60 day extension. I was writing about a one year extension of stay based upon marriage.

You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only for 2 months or proof of 40k baht to apply for it.

Thanks! I will make an appointment at the US embassy and get proof of income affidavit and then head to my immigration office here in Issan. Cheers for the help!
