Non Imm O single entry Penang - visiting Thai Child

Hi,

Does anybody have any info on applying for a single entry non imm o in Penang based on visiting Thai child

I have original Thai and British birth certificates with me named as father

House book where the kids are registered

ID card of mother and copy of divorce certificate

Do I also need the 400K in a bank, I have a fixed term deposit of more than that, would that pass?

Or is it easier to apply in Savanakhet or Vientiene?

I am here on the end of a triple tourist visa now

You do not need the financial proof to get a single entry non-o visa based upon being the parent of a Thai.

With the money you have in the bank you could apply for a multiple entry non-o visa that would allow unlimited 90 day entries for a year.

I tried for a Non O Visa for visiting my son from Perth Consulate in November 2015. I had all the documents you have. They also wanted a letter from my son inviting me to see him in Thailand, I also had a reciept from the international school that I pay for him to go to for about 500,000 Baht to show I support him. When I said he was only 7, they said "cannot get visa without letter from him."

I switched to a double entry visa, a lot less of a headache.

Things seem to get harder all the time amid numerous immigration crackdowns, thanks for your info, I will take letters from my 14 and 9 year old along with numerous pics etc. I could just go for the single entry tourist visa then apply for the non imm o in Thailand, but as you say in the end its all about keeping the hassle level down, things will just get harder for sure. My visa agent assures me the 3 month and then 1 year extension can be obtained in Thailand for 30K without having the 400K in the bank.

Not sure what the 30k baht is for (fee for agent ?) It is 400k baht in a Thai bank or proof of 40k baht income to get an extension of stay at immigration.

You will not need the letters in Penang. Just what was posted earlier.

That procedure is widely done prices vary its a loophole in the system and "not real illegal" in my opinion and no papers have to be provided by you, you only have to be 50+ old.

Not based on a child. I never tried it but possibly will do it, I know, heard from a special good price to do it.
