How early can I renew my Non O visa

Featured Replies

Okay this is my question, how early can I renew my Non O visa (married to a Thai wife)

My visa expires August 19th 2016

But here is the thing,I plan to go on holiday for a mates wedding on the 19th of July, and don't return back until the 14th of August.

Is this going to be a problem?can I do it early or have I left it too late when I get back to Thailand on the 14th of August.

Cheers

It depends upon what you actually have.

If you have a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage you would get a new 90 day entry and then could get the new visa after that 90 days.

If you have an extension of stay based upon marriage you got at immigration you could apply for the new extension as soon as you return. You will need a re-entry permit or you will loose your extension when your return.

Assuming you have an extension of stay based upon marriage you can apply to renew it within 30 days (45 at some offices) of August 19th. That included the 19th although it's not a good idea to leave it to the last minute.

Not sure what you have but you can apply for a 12 month extension of stay within the final 30 days of your current permission to stay.

Some offices will allow within the final 45 days.

And. if you do have an extension of stay for marriage, don't forget to apply for a re-entry permit at the same time as renewing your extension so as to keep your new permission to stay (to 19 August 2017?) live upon your return to Thailand on 14 August.

Pattaya told me >30 as long as I could produce an air ticket showing that I would be out of the country.

You apparently have an extension of stay based upon marriage you got at an immigration office not a visa from an embassy or consulate.

You could try to apply for the extension before you leave. If you did that you would need to get a new re-entry permit for the 30 day under consideration period.

You could apply after your return also. Five days would be enough time to do it. You would just have to be sure the immigration officer used your re-entry permit when you enter the country.

Yes. It looks like you do not have a Visa but an Extension of Stay.

As said, apply for a new one before you leave and get a Re Entry Permit.

Or apply when you get back.
