Your company's meats do look very good... in the photos, anyway. And your offer of a free tenderloin is very nice.... but....

In order to 'try' your products, we are required to shell out $100 with the hopes that what we get is good. Most of us have been bitten in the butt ordering steaks in Thailand in the past. I, for one, don't want to risk that again.

Perhaps if you made a "First Order Special" with a 1,000 baht minimum more people might be willing to try your goods, especially as your are using the world's most famous DAIRY breed rather than the world's most famous BEEF breed for your offer.

I understand that Holsteins are used for beef cuts in some parts of Europe, and for ground beef in many others, but for steaks and chops the rest of the world wants to eat Angus, Charolais, Hereford, Wagyu, etc., etc.

Thanks for your suggestion.

The reason that our nationwide PassionBox service requires a higher minimum order than Bangkok delivery is because it costs us quite a lot of money to send out PassionBoxes. We need to buy dry ice (between 4 to 8kg), foam box, cardboard box, packing materials, send it to the logistics depot and then the logistics company delivery charge. Each PassionBox costs between 400 to 500 baht to send usually. We only charge a maximum of 390 baht for delivery for a PassionBox (between orders 0 to 7000 baht), the delivery charge for orders between 7000 to 10,000 baht is only 190 baht and FREE for orders over 10,000 baht. Feel free to combine your order with other friends or family so you share the delivery charge.

We cannot really do orders less than 3,000 baht otherwise it wouldn't be worth it as it takes a lot of time to prepare each one so it arrives in perfect condition to you.

Since we started our nationwide PassionBox service we have sent out hundreds of PassionBoxes all over Thailand. The response has been very positive and our level of repeat customers is high. See our reviews of service and products on our website www.passiondelivery.com to see what other customers are saying about us.

If you have any questions just let us know.

Looks to me like you can order Premium Dry Aged Beef - Striploin. 300g. (PCB004)

Price per kg 1150 baht.
Price per piece approx 345 baht.
One piece is 345 baht. So you would need 3 pieces to make 1 kilo. The price for one kilo is either 1,150 baht or 1,035 baht (depending on price per kilo or actual price per piece).
Or you could order Thai Wagyu Ribeye MB2/3.
Just 2,900 baht per kg. Marble score 2-3
Min order 1kg (final price depends on weight).
So the minimum is 1 kilo, but the cost of that is 2,900 baht vs the same weight of meat costing 1,150 baht.
The sponsor says: "We cannot really do orders less than 3,000 baht otherwise it wouldn't be worth it as it takes a lot of time to prepare each one so it arrives in perfect condition to you."
I don't understand the sliding scale at all. Shipping is done by weight, not value, so the items both weighing 1 kg should cost the same to ship. Preparing the box to send takes the same time for any cut of meat.
It seems to me that a promotion of about a 1,000 baht purchase, as FolkGuitar said, would be economically feasible. Don't you think so?

If you have any questions just let us know.

I can appreciate the costs that a service such as yours must incur. It's not easy to deliver fresh foods so they arrive in good condition.

But the fact is, the general public doesn't care about your costs.

As you say, you've sent out hundreds of boxes. Hundreds. Not thousands. And yet you NEED thousands to stay in business.

If your product is as good as you say, then your money will be made on 'repeat orders,' not on the first-time customer. In fact, all good businesses rely upon repeat customers and word-of-mouth advertising. Perhaps you need to not make a profit on a 'first order,' or maybe even take a loss just to insure that your products are getting out to more people.

Having had to fall back to using my own pocket knife to 'try' to cut through a steak at what we mistakenly thought was a 'good' steakhouse, personally I'm reluctant to spend a hundred dollars on an experiment, no matter what 'extras' might be thrown in.

In Thailand, famous of tough hamburger beef, I imagine I share this trepidation with others when thinking about a steak.

Maybe we can pick up First Order Special" with a 1,000 baht minimum to check this great great beef

Papaya juice is almost free.

It is. And it works very well to tenderize meats. Pineapple juice does too.

"Slow Cooking" takes care of the cuts too tough for papin and bromilin. No need to spend a fortune on meat.

I'll discuss the idea of a lower minimum order for first time PassionBox orders with my partners. If it is something we decide to implement I will post up here to let you know.

We appreciate your suggestions and comments.

Awww shucks. And here was I, all excited, because I checked thinking this thread was about restaurants serving the best steaks in Chiang Mai (something I'm currently looking into), not about postal delivery of steaks TO Chiang Mai. Not surprising given the title of the thread I guess wink.png

Its hard to get good meat here. We have placed an order and wait to see. I am sure its as good as they say. Thanks for offering the service!

Thanks for your PassionBox order, we will contact you shortly to advise delivery date.

I'm sure that other ThaiVisa readers would be interested with your feedback about our service and products too. Feel free to share them here and to also post up product reviews on our website once you have sampled the goods.

I thought Holsteins were primarily a dairy breed not noted for their ability to produce fine cuts of beef.

Posted

Several people have ask the same question which is perfectly reasonable.

The truth is that Holsteins are also being used more frequently for beef production too. See this link http://harvestpublicmedia.org/blog/1543/increasingly-holstein-beef-what%E2%80%99s-dinner/5#.VqcHahh97LY

The proof though is in the taste. We have sampled beef from many different places and for price and quality, our premium dry aged beef is amazing value. If cooked properly (usually medium rare for me) then they are very juicy and deep in flavour.
