Can you name a 4 syllable Thai word with no written vowels?

สกลนคร (Sakon Nakhon)

This is not one word it is two. The Thai language does not have word breaks.

You can tell this because the is pronounced as "n" which only occurs when the letter forms the end of a word.

Nakhon is a single word meaning city or town, and sakon is a single word meaning universe or everything.

How about มรณกรรม [M]maw[H]ra[H]na[M]kam 'death'. The RID appears to offer มงคลสมรส [M]mong[M]khon[R]som[H]rot 'wedding ceremony' as a single word. The cleanest I can find is มหรณพ [H]ma[R]haw[H]ra[H]nop 'ocean'.

มหรสบ (n.) entertainment

def:[การแสดงหรือการละเล่นต่างๆ ที่จัดขึ้นเพื่อความรื่นเริง]
sample:[การแสดงหนังใหญ่นับเป็นมหรสพที่ชาวไทยนำมาแสดงกันนานหลายร้อยปี]

I can't claim credit for coming up with this myself. I asked one of the Thai English teachers in my department.

The diligent will spot the typo.

This is even further from the Sanksrit (มโหตฺสว) than was มหรณพ (มหารฺณว - the RID's มหรฺณว seems to be wrong.)!

มีคำสมาสอีกหนึ่งคำ - มรณธรรม / mortal

It's truer to say this occurs when it forms the end of a syllable wai2.gif

Question: is "รร" two consonants or one vowel?

Oooops, you are quite right!

ชนบท Ok only 3 syllables off the top of my head.

Double consonnant in place of the vowel -ั ( you know the answer, why do you ask ? )

I'd assume he was asking about the rules of the challenge. I took the view that words with รร for /a/ or for /ua/ risked being disqualified.

ภรตวรรษ (พะรด-ตะวัด) India.

' มหรรณพ ' is often used. มงคลสมรส is a compound word which is from มงคล (auspicious) + สมรส(wedding).

There seem to be an urban legend of people changing their names to รรรรรร

ร รร รรร ra ron run, still only three syllable
