Fifth sperm whale washes up dead on British beach

LONDON: -- A fifth sperm whale has washed up on the east coast of England after four others died in a spate of beachings in recent days.

Small groups of people gathered around taking, photographs, dwarfed by the corpses.

It’s believed a pod of up to six whales had been spotted close to the shoreline on Friday.

The cause of the death is unknown but there have been several previous examples of sperm whales becoming confused and beaching in the shallow waters of the North Sea.

Scientists from Britain’s Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme are carrying out post-mortem examinations.

Perhaps someone should scan for sonar being used in the area.

It certainly would not be a military sonar as the water is too shallow for submarine operations and the power of commercial sonars used in the oil/gas industry would not have any effect.

It could possibly be acoustic sound sources (guns) used in Seismic exploration, but I doubt this as all vessels carrying out this work will have a specialist Marine Mammal Observer onboard whose sole purpose is to prevent any harmful emissions if there are mammals in the area.

No point the sea bed is a uniform 200ft deep . I live on the Lincolnshire coast. They just got lost and could not feed propyl, they need deep sea to dive and

hunt for food, We get more Russian bombers of the coast more than Submarines, also there are thumpers on the sea bed to listen for any hostile

submarines.
