webfact Posted January 26, 2016 Share Posted January 26, 2016 Foreign Minister visits Iran to strengthen bilateral tiesBANGKOK, 27 January 2016 (NNT) - Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai has paid an official visit to Iran to strengthen relations between the two countries.The Thai Foreign Minister was invited by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh to visit the Middle Eastern nation on the occasion of the Ninth Meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic, Commercial, Industrial, Technical, Agricultural and Scientific Cooperation between Thailand and Iran.Mr. Don was asked to chair the opening ceremony of the joint meeting. He was later scheduled to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and discuss bilateral cooperation with Mr. Nematzadeh as well as Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.Both countries have agreed to help one another to fulfill their needs. Iran could export fuel to Thailand, providing energy security, while Thailand could export rice and rubber, providing food security and supporting industrial productivity.Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak is scheduled conduct an official visit to Iran from February 1 – 3 to observe the agreement signing ceremony after the joint meeting concludes.-- NNT 2016-01-27 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

China is already making overtures to Iran.....why wouldn't Thailand? Rice for petrol sounds good to me. Hopefully the price of almonds and dates will come down.
