It's been common practice at the several government schools I've been working for since 2002. In return you should be given a receipt every time the salary is deducted.

Use one of the tax calculators below to have an idea of what deduction is appropriate for your salary.

If they are not supplying you with a receipt showing the money went towards your tax then it is not being done. I worked at a company who took money for taxes and never paid it for me and at the end of the year I ended up having to pay it all. No receipt and I would start asking for one from the person who is taking the money and stating its for taxes

Agree!

Let's see.. not so much on taxes.. but a gambit of Thai ADM regarding over 60 employment. or rehire .. or past 60 stay on or what ever.. a reduction of over 55 % of your base pay to remain at the college over 60 as a special teacher past 60..

Some countries. such as the UK, have a dual taxation agreement with Thailand. Therefore some people may be tax exempt for their first one or two years in Thailand. Otherwise you pay taxes at the same rate as Thais. They've invented this thing called the internet where you can find out such information if your bothered to look instead of posting superfluous questions here! If you want a tax free salary head towards the middle east....
