January 28, 201610 yr What is the current status and procedure for extending a 15-day Visa on Arrival? 7 days only? 30 days? Sorry for such a simple question which should be easy to answer just by looking through TV or googling, but people seem to be misusing the VoA term in discussion about visa-exemptions and somehow the info is all mashed up.
January 28, 201610 yr You can apply for a 7 day extension, pay 1900 baht and be given 7 days to leave the country.
January 28, 201610 yr I had a 30 day visa on arrival and got a 30 day extension in Nong Khai. I was expecting a 7 day extension. She said that Americans get 30 days. I wondered if that might have been a mistake. That was two days ago. It didn't matter to me because I am flying in four days. Ubonjoe can you comment? Thanks.

Americans are not entitled to VOA. Edited January 28, 201610 yr by Eclipse

You never had "VISA on arrival" which is not available to Americans, costs 1000 Bht and provides for a 15 day stay ! What you received was a "visa exempt entry"

He specifically refers to the confusion caused when people call a "visa exempt entry" a "visa on arrival".. How to tell which you have If you had to pay for a visa at the airport, and only received a 15-day entry, you have a visa. If you did not need to pay, and received a 30-day entry (15 days at a land border unless from a G7 country) you have a visa-exempt entry. Consequences People who receive visas on arrival cannot extend them. However, if they request an extension, although the extension is denied, they will be given 7 days to leave the country. People who receive visa-exempt entries can extend them one time for an additional 30 days on payment on 1,900 baht. A request for a subsequent extension (except in special cases) will be denied, but 7 days to leave the country will be granted. Hope this clears up your confusion.
