BANGKOK: -- The Department of Special Investigation has decided to file fraud and forgery charges against former president of Klongchan Credit Union Cooperatives Supachai Srisupa-aksorn and three other associates in connection with embezzlement of 13 billion baht from the cooperatives.

The three associates were identified as Ms Sarunya Manmud, Mr Lapas Somkham and Mr Krisda Meeboonmak.

The DSI also ordered additional investigation against Mrs Thongpin Kunlom and associates for colluding with Mr Supachai in the issuance of several cheques of the cooperatives.

The DSI decided not to file embezzlement charges against Mr Jeeradet Worapienkul and Mr Watchanont but, instead, to charge them with receiving stolen goods and money laundering.

The DSI has uncovered about 600 million baht worth of land plots bought by Mr Supachai with the money embezzled from the cooperatives. The land plots include 1.984 rai of land in Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasima.

Pol Lt-Col Pakorn Sucheevakul, commander of the office of financial crimes of the DSI, said that seven groups of people and legal entities had received altogether 878 cheques worth about 12 billion baht from Mr Supachai.

The groups of recipients include the Dhammakaya temple and other cooperatives.

I say if you want to perpetrate a fraud, better make it a super mega fraud like this one to justify the risks

of going to jail over it,

Beside, how hard is to trace people's sudden wealth when they had that much wealth before and now,

an unexplainable whole lot more?......

"I can explain everything"

Sure, it was just an honest mistake.

....wow......

And what about Wat Dhammakaya and the abbot there? Nothing. It's my understanding, they received a whole bunch of this money. coffee1.gif
