Thai visa for Malaysian citizen

Featured Replies

My female friends son of one year old is a Malaysian citizen (Malaysian Father) with a Thai Mother. On occasion she wants to be able to spend extended time in Thailand with her Family. Can anyone advise what is the best visa she can get for him?

I thought of Resident visa but is the application process any easier for a child who has a Thai mother? And then there is the nuisance of getting exit visa at least once a year.

Any suggestions ?

The child is Thai from birth and can get a Thai passport. Does the child have a Thai birth certificate?

The child could enter on a visa exempt entry and then apply for a one year extension based upon being a returning Thai national at an immigration office. All that would be needed is their birth certificate to prove their mother is Thai and proof of her Thai nationality.
