KANCHANABURI: -- About 600 rai of encroached land in a national park in Kanchanaburi have been reclaimed by authorities.

The encroached land is divided into 11 plots and located in the eastern side of Chong Insee national park and Don Salaeb-Laokwan forest reserve. They are planted with maize, tapioca, eucalyptus and rubber trees.

Dozens of officials from the Department of Special Investigation, the Ratchaburi-based Forest Resources Management Office and troops from the 9th division descended on Chong Insee national park to investigate complaints of land encroachment.

The officials found about 300 rai of the park land cleared of natural vegetation and planted with cash crops such as tapioca, eucalyptus, maize and rubber trees. In August last year, the officials reclaimed four plots of encroached land and took legal actions against the encroachers.

Mr Suradet Akkarach, director of forest protection and fire control unit, complained that encroachment problem is continuing in the park land in search of land for cultivation.

He suggested local leaders to help officials by acting as ears and eyes to watch out for encroachers.

LOL. They are the encroachers!

Those 500 baht fines are real deterrents...

Undoubtedly to flip it to their own set of cronies, family, and superiors.

To little WAY to late.

Just think of how many millions of baht bribes those"encroaches"paid the last government and local BIB for the land.55555

Land which was useful to many, fed families and now, will become a vast wasteland !

that land will become land that farang can only "enter" if paying 300thb :)
