Where to do visa run from trat to Cambodia

Recommended Posts

I was mis-informed by Thai embassy in my home country about the double entry visa. It was only just made clear to me moments ago at Rayong immigration that I have to leave the country and return again.

So I am on my way to Cambodia only a few hours away.

Where can I cross to get my stamp on the passport.

Thank you in advance

Had Lek/Cham Yeam. Van from Trat Bus Terminal to Had Lek 120 Baht. E-visa is best (https://www.evisa.gov.kh/) if you have the time. Cambodia visa 1500 Baht at the border. Ya, I know that's more than it should be, but such is life. The Immigration Officers apparently need their cut too. Touts may want another 100-300 to fill out the application. Your choice to use or not. Last time I crossed there (about 3 weeks ago) I met a guy on the Cambodia side who told me he was doing a "turn around" visa run. I've personally never tried it, as I have family in Koh Kong, which is why I go there.

There is not much to do or see in Koh Kong, which is 6-7 km from the border. If only staying one or two nights I recommend doing it at the Koh Kong Resort & Casino next to the border (actually about 300 m to reception). It's not too pricey, breakfast included, beautiful beach, pool and other amenities for what I would consider a fair price. A silver/gray songtow is usually parked at the border and will take you there. Look for their logo on the songtow. They usually can help you clear immigration too if needed, but that is fairly easy to do and you can take a motorcycle or walk to the resort if you prefer.

rayong is not trat.

if you are in rayong and have transport this

https://www.google.co.th/maps/@12.9259595,102.492159,16.25z is the most user friendly border crossing for in/out stamps.

if you are in trat then this is the koh kong border

https://www.google.co.th/maps/@11.6507641,102.908143,16.25z

this border is BAD news on the cambodian side.

last i was at aranyaprathet/poi pet border:

https://www.google.co.th/maps/@13.6670303,102.5531846,13z

they said they dont do in/out at that border

Thank you buddumber, do you know if you have to pay for the pickup to go into Cambodia and does my Thai partner need 2 photos

park on the thai side. walk across and back by yourself. you will then need photos of yourself. think it was one, could be two max. Edited by Buddumber

I got stuffed over at the boarder. Double entry was not accepted because it was expired. Why do they give you a double entry but not adjust the fate accordingly

Visas are valid from the date of issue not the date of first use.

The expiry (enter before) date is clearly marked on the visa.

In the case of a double entry visa both entries have to be made prior to or on the "enter before date"

Visas, once issued are never amended or "adjusted".

what ever you got you can get a 60 day extension at rayong immigration.

just get to know the rules, visa's are valid until the use before/ enter before date stamped on the visa, a permission to stay stamp then cancels out the visa, (unless the visa is multi entry) that then becomes the important date to remember

always best to ask here before rather than after

edit - just noticed wife is a Thai national

You may be able to get a transit visa for free. Not sure on that one. Border is actually open 6am - 10pm. The Candy Publications map is not correct on this. First van from Trat is at 6am.

never heard of a transit visa at Had Lek

i was there n Nov,

$30 for Cambodian visa

stamped out of Thailand, walk into Cambodia

walk back

thai's get 14 days free visa exempt.

You can park right near the thai immigration.

what ever you got you can get a 60 day extension at rayong immigration.

HUH? you can get a 30 day extension for 1,900 baht no 60 day extension

why not go spend a day in Koh Kong an see something different? Just take your pick up with ya, as long as you have the cars blue book its easy, get a temp export doc on thai side,

cross over to Cambodia, pay the guy 150 baht/day your going to stay in Cambodia,100 baht to lift the gate an drive on.

I took my thai car in and went ot Shv, kampot and Kep in Nov

chang14 - where are you from (G7) & how long did they just give you at the border (15/30days)?

G7'S get 30 days, non-G7 only get 15 - at land border crossings.

But whichever, you can extend your current permission to stay at Rayong Immigration for 30 more days (1900bt)...

If you fly out/in again you'll get another 30 day visa exempt permission to stay (irrespective of G7) - which you can then extend for a further 30 days.

...Or if you get a tourist visa from a neighboring country you'll get 60 days (which you can extend by 30)
