Raybangkok
Hi guys, I am sure this is an easy question to answer but would appreciate any first hand experiences. When I first came here in my 30s now in my 60s I ordered a BMW at the time they were not made here so had to import it. During the meantime I bought a Honda Accord. I was only on a 30 day visa obtained on entry but had no problems registering it neither in my name nor with the insurance. When my car arrived from Germany I was on a category B non Immigrant visa valid for one year again no problems. I have since bought another car but always kept the old one for friends to use when they visit. I would like to transfer the ownership of the car to a friend who visits 5-6 times a year he comes in on a 30day entry permit at the airport. Question: will I be able to transfer ownership to him. He does have a permanent address in Thailand where he lives when visiting. Many thanks in advance. Edited February 5, 2016 by seedy font
loginwith
He will need to get a "Residence Certificate" from immigration. It is required for the registration. I am not sure he could get one with a "30 day entry permit" stamp (I guess you meant "visa exempt" entry?). But why don't you ask a new question in the visa forum http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/forum/1-thai-visas-residency-and-work-permits/ With a Residence Certificate he could also open a bank account and apply for a driver's license as well.
