Hi everbody,

I need help.

I was in Rangoon and applied for a non-immigrant (as I did with OK before elsewhere) and got rejected. I felt it was bad attitude. I returned with 30 days on arrival.

However, I can't take the risk to try again and if not OK then I have to leave for 90 days. Very bad.

Has anybody a clue about what the new regulations now finaly mean for tourist visas?

Can I still get a 3-entry 2-month tourist visa (Category TR) in Pengang as used to?

Can't you apply for a non-imm in BKK with a VOA in your passport? I could be wrong about that, though... Might save you some hassle if true...

I thought you always have to leave the country for non-imm.

Lopburi: Do you know from someone who tried? What do they give now? Only single entry?

You can not obtain more than a single entry type of any visa at Penang. KL and Singapore seem to be a better choice. If you are married and meet the requirements for extension of stay a tourist visa can be converted to non immigrant at an immigration office at a cost of 2,000 baht and you can then extend your stay for another 1,900 baht. At present Bangkok seems to also be doing this for 30 day entry but not sure how long that will last. Normally it can not be done on a non visa entry and even on a tourist visa requires there be 21 days remaining on your permitted to stay stamp.

Do we have any notion whether Penang or other places are going to issue several single entries?

Can we at least continue to be here as tourists if we fly to X and get an tourist visa every two months?

What worries me most is the unpredictability of the system.

I am not going to buy anything here that I can not eat, or carry away. I already regret having bought bulky furniture lately.

Dont forget---to get non-imm. visa you have to provide police paper showing no crimanal record in home country ( ie UK). And med cert. Apart from financial details. And to renew each year Is it all worth it?

You do not require either a criminal record check or medical certificate for a non immigrant visa. What you are thinking of is a pre approved retirement O-A type visa that you apply for in your home country and allows a one year stay. And neither the records check or the medical is required for renewal each year.
