Gusty winds hit Europe – on both sides of the Channel



PARIS: -- Brittany and Normandy took a battering on Monday as France’s north and west bore the brunt of a storm that has seen gusts of around 140 kilometres per hour.

The treacherous conditions on the coast left fishermen stranded in ports while inland, in Paris, two people are reported seriously injured in what looks to be an accident triggered by strong winds, when an advertising hoarding crashed down on top of them.

Across the Channel in southwest England and Wales, conditions were also challenging.
